With an AAHA-accredited veterinary clinic in the same building, you can have the peace of mind knowing that your pet’s health and safety are in good hands. You can also rest assure that in the event of any medical emergency, your pet’s medical needs can be attended to immediately and with the highest level of quality care.

The infrastructure enclosing our facility speaks to NOVA Pets’ commitment to your pet’s safety and well-being with a climate controlled & fire proof building equipped with 24 hour surveillance cameras, and clean, comfortable accommodations.
At NOVA Pets, we believe socialization through pet-to-pet and/or pet-to-human interaction and exercise are vital to your pet’s health and happiness. This is why Nova Pets provides three outdoor bathroom breaks, along with group play, and private play options for each boarded pet.

Q: How clean are the facilities?

A: Cleanliness at a boarding facility decreases the chances of your pet getting sick and catching diseases and we maintain strict cleaning guidelines and clean the air throughout the entire facility with an ionizer through a UV light and O3. Feel free to come take a tour and see for yourself.

Q: How experienced are the caregivers?

A: Our primary provider, Dr. Masood, has 28-years of experience and the remainder of NOVA Pets’ pet care team brings together more than 20 years of experience working directly with dogs, cats, birds and exotic pets.

Q: What other services will by pet have access to when boarding with NOVA Pets?

A: Who doesn’t enjoy convenience? So for your convenience, NOVA Pets provides a comprehensive solution for all your pet care needs. We can take care of grooming, bathing, teeth cleaning, or any other veterinary service like vaccinations or neuter/spay etc. while your pet boards with us – we’ve got all the bases covered.

Q: Can all my pets stay together in the same suite?

A: Yes, we can board your pets in the same suite. However, for comfort and safety purposes, there are minimum room size requirements for multiple pets sharing suites.

Q: What is the registration process for boarding my pet?

A: Call us ahead of time to schedule your pre-boarding assessment prior to pet drop off. If you are up-to-date on all required vaccinations and have already had an initial pre-boarding assessment, simply call us at 703-378-9791 to save your spot, or make a reservation online!

Q: Are your boarding rates competitive?

A: If you compare us to other similar facilities in the area, our prices are close to 50% less. We offer the best bang for your buck, plus a love for all pet and animals that is absolutely priceless!

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: We realize that plans do change, and wish to accommodate all of our customer’s needs. A full refund is available if we are notified within 48-hours of your reservation date. Emergency refunds are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Q: Is it possible for my pet catch something while boarding?

A: There is a low risk of disease exposure when boarding your pet with other animals. However, this risk is virtually eliminated when a boarding/kennel facility ensures a healthy population of boarded guests by requiring advanced vaccinations and wellness examinations prior to boarding/kenneling pets in an enclosed area. Additionally, high sanitation standards and quality living conditions are important to ensuring the absence of disease.

NOVA Pets takes pride in its boarding facility, providing a first-class, sanitary environment for the health of your pet. Our suites were constructed with disease prevention in mind! We use sanitation procedures, a clean air flow system, and comprehensive staff training to ensure a safe, healthy, and secure environment for your pets.

NOVA Pets welcomes you to tour our boarding and day care facilities and encourages you to come in during business hours to receive a guided tour.

Q: If my dog is aggressive towards other dogs, can he still attend boarding and day camp?

A: If your dog cannot associate with other dogs, alternative, independent play time is available. Nova Pets requests written instructions at the time of the admission, so your pet can receive their play time with a trained staff member.

Q: Can you board a dog that is aggressive towards people?

If your dog is aggressive towards people, they cannot be boarded in our facility or attend our Dog Day Care.

Q: If my dog attends Day Care, will they be supervised?

A: Doggie Day Care is always supervised and even more carefully when new pets join. Before being admitted to the day care, a trainer will evaluate each dog and form groups according to their compatibility.

Q: Do you board pets that are not spayed or neutered?

A: If your pet is not spayed or neutered, we can accommodate their play time and select a group that suits them best. If you request to isolate them from other pets, he or she can play with a trained staff member.

Q: Is there an overnight staff?

A: We do not have an overnight staff, the dogs last walk outside is between 5 – 6 PM. After the walk they rest in their suites until the next morning.

Q: How long can I board my pet?

A: You can board your pet with us for as long as you would like. We just require that each 30 day period is pre-paid.

Q: Are there any discounts for long-term boarding?

A: There is a 10% discount for every 30-day stay. However, please keep in mind that long-term boarding visits must be prepaid and we must have a credit card on file so that we can charge the boarding expense every 30 days.

Q: Can I bring my dog’s bedding?

A: Due to the daily cleaning requirements in our boarding facility, we ask that you do not bring your dog’s bedding. NOVA Pets Health Center provides the comfortable bedding for your pet.

Q: My dog is on a special diet. Can I bring in his/her own food?

A: If your pet is on a special diet we highly recommend bringing their own food with quantity instructions. If no food is provided, your pet will be fed Royal Canine. If your pet’s diet requires further instructions, please indicate them on your Boarding Activity Report.

Q: Do boarding fees include Doggie Day Camp or one-on-one play?

A: Dogs are provided with 3 outdoor walks a day. Should you wish to provide your pet with additional exercise and socialization, an additional $10/day is charged for either group play or one-on-one play.

Q: Can my pet have his/her toys while boarding?

A: Your pet’s plastic toys are a welcome if they are sturdy and do not break easily. Be sure to include your last name on any toys with permanent ink so they are properly identified at pick-up.

Q: What is a pre-boarding assessment and why do I need one?

A: NOVA Pets requires all pets to complete a Pre-Boarding Assessment prior to their scheduled reservation. The pre-boarding assessment provides an opportunity to tour the facility and introduce the visiting pet to the surroundings of the facility. Most importantly, a pre-boarding assessment allows NOVA Pets staff to start building a relationship with you and your pet. It also allows us to confirm their overall wellness, ensure minimum boarding requirements are met, and discuss any special requirements needed for your pet while staying with us.

Q: What forms are required to board my pet?

A: Prior to drop off, clients are requested to complete a Boarding Activity Report, where you can detail the services, needs, and special requests for your pet during their stay.

If you are a new client, please call ahead to schedule a pre-boarding assessment. The pre-boarding assessment ensures quick service and an easy transition for your pet.

Q: Will I be charged for Sunday?

A: Yes, rates are based on the day of boarding, not just as an overnight charge. Our staff begins tending to boarded pets at 7 a.m., so before you arrive to pick them up, your pet will have been fed, exercised, and, in some cases, have been bathed in preparation for their homecoming. It is for these services that you would be charged for should your pet stays until Sunday afternoon.

Q: Why do I need to meet certain wellness requirements to use day care, boarding, or grooming services?

A: Minimum wellness requirements have been put in place to ensure a healthy population of pet clients and NOVA Pets’ facility. Since boarding, day care, and grooming are services where pets can come into contact with other pets; ensuring each pet is healthy and free of communicable disease is critical to preventing exposure.
