Boarding for pets who need
more than a place to stay.

Some pets need more than food, water, and a comfortable space while you're away. They need medication administered precisely, wounds monitored, post-surgical recovery managed, or chronic conditions overseen by someone who actually knows what they're looking at. At Nova Pets Health Center, Dr. Masood and his team provide medical boarding for pets with ongoing health needs — under veterinary supervision, in the same facility where they receive their care.

What we offer

The gap between a regular kennel
and a hospital stay. We fill it.

Most boarding facilities are not equipped to handle pets with active medical needs. Complex medication protocols, wound care, post-op monitoring, and condition management require clinical experience and a veterinarian who can step in when something changes.

At Nova Pets, medical boarding happens inside a veterinary practice. Dr. Masood is on-site during boarding hours. If something shifts — an incision that needs attention, a blood sugar reading that looks off, a change in condition — we don't call you to find a vet. We handle it here.

Intake exam required at drop-off
Every medical boarding stay begins with an intake exam by Dr. Masood. This gives us a clear picture of your pet's current condition, establishes a baseline to monitor against, and ensures we fully understand their needs before the stay begins. It's not a formality — it's how we make sure we're set up to take proper care of your pet from day one.
Post-surgical recovery
Pets recovering from surgery who need a controlled environment, wound monitoring, pain management, and suture care. Especially valuable for procedures performed at our practice — Dr. Masood oversees recovery personally.
Chronic condition management
Diabetic pets requiring insulin on a precise schedule, kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, seizure disorders, heart conditions — pets whose daily management requires someone who knows what a change in status looks like.
Complex medication protocols
Multiple medications, timed dosing, medications requiring monitoring for side effects, or protocols where precision matters. We handle these the way we handle our clinical patients.
Pets needing closer monitoring
Elderly, fragile, or recently ill pets who need a closer eye than standard boarding provides — even without a specific active diagnosis.

Dr. Masood is here during boarding hours. If something changes with your pet, our team assesses and responds immediately — no scrambling to reach a vet after the fact.

What to expect

A stay built around your pet's
specific medical needs.

Medical boarding at Nova Pets isn't a fixed program. Every pet has different needs and we build their stay around what they actually require.

1
Call us first
Tell us about your pet's condition, their medication schedule, what they've been through, and what you need from us. We'll tell you honestly whether we're the right fit and what to expect. For complex or unusual cases, we'll let you know upfront if the level of care needed is beyond what we can safely provide.
2
Care plan review
Before your pet arrives, we review their records, medications, and any notes from their treating veterinarian. If they're already our patients, Dr. Masood has full context. If they're coming from another practice, bring all records and medication instructions.
3
Intake exam at drop-off
Dr. Masood performs an intake exam when your pet arrives. This establishes their baseline, confirms the care plan, and ensures nothing has changed since your last conversation with us. We go through everything together so nothing is left to interpretation.
4
Daily monitoring
Our team checks in on medical boarders more frequently than standard boarding guests. Dr. Masood reviews their status during his on-site hours. Any changes in condition are assessed and addressed immediately.
5
Communication throughout
If anything changes or concerns arise, we contact you. We don't wait until pickup to mention something we noticed on day two.

Pricing

Priced based on what your
pet actually needs.

Medical boarding is priced higher than standard boarding — because the level of care, attention, and clinical oversight is higher. The specific cost depends on your pet's condition, the complexity of their care requirements, and the length of their stay.

For most medical boarding cases, we'll give you a clear estimate when you call. For more complex situations, pricing is determined on a case-by-case basis after we've reviewed your pet's needs. We'll always be upfront about cost before your pet arrives.

What affects pricing

Complexity and frequency of medication administration
Whether wound care or post-surgical monitoring is needed
Level of veterinary oversight required
Length of stay
Transparency
We'll always tell you if you need a higher level of care.
Medical boarding at Nova Pets is appropriate for a wide range of pets with ongoing medical needs. It is not a substitute for 24-hour intensive care, ICU-level monitoring, or emergency intervention.
If your pet's condition requires around-the-clock monitoring, IV fluid administration, oxygen therapy, or a level of intervention beyond what a daytime veterinary team can safely provide — we will tell you that clearly and help you find the right facility.
We'd rather be honest about our limits than have a pet in our care who needs more than we can give.
